President Thaçi receives mufti Tërnava, they discuss interfaith coexistence in Kosovo

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi received today the Mufti of Kosovo, Naim Tërnava, with whom he discussed the internal dialogue, interfaith tolerance and harmony in Kosovo.

President Thaçi highly praised the role and contribution of the Islamic Community of Kosovo in establishing interfaith coexistence in Kosovo.

“Kosovo is an example in the region with respect to interfaith tolerance and coexistence. We should promote this value and wealth of Kosovo”, President Thaçi said.

The head of state and mufti Tërnava also discussed the legal shortcomings vis-à-vis the religious communities and the need for them to be fulfilled in the future.

Mufti Tërnava said that the Islamic Community of Kosovo has cohabited with the fate of the people and has always given its contribution to political and historical processes in Kosovo.

He said that the greatest values of our country lie in the mutual respect and harmony between faiths, which is present among all communities.

President Thaçi said that the interfaith dialogue led by religious institutions and the civil society, which support and encourage communication between faith, will soon be discussed also at the international interfaith conference, which as of this year will be organized under the patronage of the President.
