President Thaçi received the winners of the medals in the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017

Prishtina, April 3, 2017 - The President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, today received athletes Kushtrim Veseli and Medina Surdulli, who won three medals at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017, held in Schladming, Austria.

President Thaçi said he was very proud of their victory.

“I was convinced of your victory. We are very proud of you, because your victories also honor the state of Kosovo”, said President Thaçi.

From the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017, our two athletes returned to Kosovo with three medals, a gold medal and two silver medals.

The Special Olympics athlete of Kosovo, Kushtrim Veseli, won two medals in two categories.

In the category of skiing “Alpine Novice Giant Slalom”, athlete Veseli won the first place and was awarded the Gold Medal, whereas in the category “Alpine Novice Slalom”, he won the second place and was awarded the Silver Medal. 

Whereas, athlete Medina Surdulli won the second place in the category “Alpine Novice Giant Slalom” and was awarded with the Silver Medal.

President Thaçi promised them for support to participate also at other Olympiads and encouraged them to work and prepare themselves for next successes.

At the Special Olympics World Winter Games athletes from around 150 countries of the world participated.
