Prishtina, April 04 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi received today the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Kosovo, Dardan Nuhiu, Deputy Director Behar Xhema and analyst Meriton Shoshi.
The President congratulated Director Nuhiu for the membership of the FIU in the Egmont Group. Director Nuhiu stated that the membership in the Egmont Group is done after Kosovo has fulfilled all the conditions.
Now Kosovo has access to the data shared by all member countries which will contribute to the raising of the FIU efficiency, but also to the rule of law and combating financial crimes in Kosovo in general.
President Thaçi stated that the FIU has deserved the membership and expressed that this is another recognition for the achievements of Kosovo as a state and another step in the international consolidation of Kosovo’s statehood.
FIU Kosovo has become a member of the Egmont Group in the end of January.
