President Thaçi received the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj

Prishtina, September 15, 2017- The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received in the first meeting the newly elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj.

President Thaçi expressed to him the best wishes for being elected at the head of the country’s Government, at the same time expressing his commitment for cooperation.

The Head of State on this occasion said that earlier today he met with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Veseli, and now with the newly elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Haradinaj, in order to really begin a new phase of institutional engagement, a phase that will accelerate the process of Euro-Atlantic integration

“While congratulating Prime Minister Haradinaj on his election, at the same time we share our institutional responsibilities for the joint accomplishment of these vital priorities for our country”, said President Thaçi.

He also made known that at the meeting between him and Prime Minister Haradinaj, they discussed about the continuation of the necessary democratic reforms for the new state.

President Thaçi said that Kosovo passed some important tests of democracy, such as the organization of fair, free, democratic, transparent elections evaluated by the entire political spectrum and the international community.

Also, it is an extraordinary merit of the Kosovar political parties to constitute the Assembly, to establish the Government by the internal debate of the political spectrum, without interference from the international community, evaluating this as a new political culture.

“We discussed with Prime Minister Haradinaj and earlier today with President Veseli, about the commitments we will have in common to accelerate the process of Kosovo’s integration into NATO, the European Union, the United Nations Organisation”, continued  President Thaçi.

He further said that this is only the beginning of the governing mandate, and that of course there will be space and opportunity for a debate in the Kosovo Assembly on the priorities of the Government of Kosovo, expressing the full confidence that the opposition parties and all the rest will be included, because according to him, only united we can move forward even faster and even better.

“There is room for all to contribute, for which I am confident that those circumstances, those communication and cooperation conditions that are common interests will be created, of course always respecting the position of both the Government and the opposition. But there are many more priorities that unite the political spectrum than the ones differentiating them in their approaches”, stressed the Head of State.

President Thaçi expressed his confidence that the things that are still to be accomplished will be carried out quickly, but also the new priorities that Prime Minister Haradinaj, the Haradinaj government have put before them, can be implemented in the near future.

“I am aware that there will be a lot of challenges, there will be difficulties, there will be confrontations, but with energy and determination all will be completed, I am optimistic”, concluded President Thaçi

Whereas, on the other hand, the newly elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said that this is the first meeting with the President of Kosovo, but according to him here starts a practice of regular meetings to be followed in the future.

“I have the honor today to hold the first meeting with the President of Kosovo, Mr. Thaçi. At the same time, to start a practice now, which we will continue through regular meetings, where I will use the opportunity to report to the President on the country’s governance developments”, stressed Prime Minister Haradinaj.

He further said that the public and citizens of the country are aware that we have already recorded the governing state in the country, now we know how the governance is, how the real situation in the country is.

“The coming week we will present to the Assembly and the country the governing program, but that has a precise start from the real situation”, added Haradinaj.
