Monday, October 24, 2016 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, sot has received today the MPs of the Portuguese parliament, Julio Miranda Calha and Bruno Vitorino.
President Thaçi expressed the gratitude to MPs Calha and Vitorino for the Portuguese presence, especially of the armed forces of Portugal in Kosovo, which contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region.
“Portugal has supported Kosovo during the difficult times of war, and also during the days of reconstruction after the war. It has been among the first countries to recognize Kosovo and continues to support it on the international stage”, said President Thaçi.
On the other hand, the Portuguese MP Julio Miranda Calha said that Portugal will continue to support peace and stability in the region, as well as the aspiration of Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans for membership into NATO and the EU.
Whereas, the other MP, Bruno Vitorino added that Portugal continues to seek new recognitions for Kosovo from the countries that have not yet recognized it.
President Thaçi thanked the Portuguese MPs for the active participation at the Rose Roth seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which for the first time has developed its proceedings in Kosovo.
