President Thaçi received a delegation of the National Council of Albanians from the Presevo Valley

Wednesday, November 02, 2016 - The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today a delegation of the Presevo Valley led by the President of the National Council of Albanians, Jonuz Musliu.

President Thaçi and President Musliu discussed about the situation of the Albanians in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medveda and about the latest political developments in the region.

President Thaci stressed that with the consolidation of the international position of Kosovo, the opportunities to support the Albanians in the Presevo Valley will increase.

“The respecting of the rights of minorities is one of the main criteria for membership in the European Union and no candidate country, including Serbia, can advance in the integration processes without fulfilling the highest standards of respecting the minorities”, said President Thaçi.

The President of the National Council of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, Jonuz Musliu, who was accompanied by the Mayor of the Municipal Assembly of Presevo, Ardita Sinani, and the Mayor of Bujanovac, Shaip Kamberi, talking about the level of cooperation between the authorities of Kosovo and the Albanians in the Presevo Valley, stressed that there are numerous opportunities to deepen this cooperation.

President Thaçi and President Musliu also discussed about the particular importance of increasing cooperation in the fields of education, culture and trade exchanges with these three Albanian municipalities, in order to improve the welfare of the Albanians in the Presevo Valley.
