The President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, received today a delegation of activists for the rights of victims of sexual violence, headed by the Executive Director of the Kosova Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims, Feride Rushiti.
President Thaçi expressed them gratitude for the tireless engagement for almost two decades, on this sensitive but also humanitarian issue, which deserves institutional care.
“I am grateful to you because you’ve been persistent. Thanks to your engagement, institutional care has now begun”, stated President Thaçi.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Kosova Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims, Feride Rushiti, stressed that civil society has been engaged all the time and thanks to this commitment has been built the infrastructure necessary to provide support to victims of sexual violence.
“We have built a fairer, more transparent and more credible mechanism”, said Rushiti, speaking about the challenge of the identification of the victims and the measures to support the victims and their families.
President Thaçi promised the activists for the rights of victims of sexual violence that the support of the institutions will no longer be lacking.
“You will have my personal and institutional support”, stated President Thaçi.
