President Thaçi praises the work of the International Red Cross

Prishtina, December 01 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today the Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Kosovo, Agim Gashi, who informed the President about the engagements of the ICRC, with particular emphasis on the issue of the missing.

President Thaçi thanked him for the many years work of the International Committee of the Red Cross on missing persons, but also about other issues of humanitarian nature in Kosovo and in the region.

“Your commitment for the missing is irreplaceable. I appreciate that your are engaged for every missing person equally, regardless of their affiliation”, said President Thaçi, adding that the Kosovo society must close the painful chapter of the war.

Meanwhile, the Head of the ICRC in Kosovo, Agim Gashi, said that the Red Cross as key topic has the issue of the missing, but does not leave aside other commitments, particularly the support of local associations of the Red Cross.

Gashi, informed President Thaçi about the work of the Working Group on missing persons, as an independent mechanism to deal with this issue since 2004.

President Thaçi, highly praising the work of the ICRC, said that he will support the work of this mission, especially in the urgent issue of the missing persons.
