New York, September 21, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today, in New York, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.
Accompanied by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Behgjet Pacolli, President Thaçi expressed his pleasure for the first bilateral meeting between the two respective countries, since when Bangladesh has recognized Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
The Head of State said that Kosovo is committed to increase the cooperation with Bangladesh and that the two countries will soon establish diplomatic relations and exchange Ambassadors.
President Thaçi also thanked Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, for Bangladesh’s support for the membership of Kosovo into international organizations.
“The support of Bangladesh in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the further recognition of Kosovo is important and we are grateful to you for the support you have given to the resolution that supports the independence of Kosovo”, said President Thaçi during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina
