President Thaçi met in New York with the President of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcák

New York, September 23, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, at the conclusion of his five-day visit to New York, at the United Nations General Assembly week, met with the President of the United Nations General Assembly and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcák.

President Thaçi congratulated President Lajcák for taking office.

The Head of State stressed that Kosovo is continuing to consolidate its international subjectivity on the global political scene, it remains committed to the strengthening of the rule of law, to economic development, and the acceleration of the Euro-Atlantic journey.

President Thaçi also discussed with President Lajcák about the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. He said that the direct involvement of the United States of America at the final stage is necessary to secure a final, acceptable and viable agreement for both sides, which would contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region and beyond. The Head of State said he also expects the UN Secretary-General’s continued and open support for the dialogue process.
