President Thaçi met in New York with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk

New York, September 19, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, as the Head of the delegation of Kosovo, has started today the meetings at the next session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Head of State, accompanied by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, met with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk.

President Thaçi discussed with President Tusk about Kosovo’s European path and thanked him for the support given in this regard.

He said that Kosovo remains committed to its European future.

“We have made important steps on our journey towards the big European family. The process of Kosovo’s integration into the European Union needs to be accelerated through concrete actions. It is essential for our country and the whole region to keep the EU engaged in the Western Balkans”, said President Thaçi during the meeting.

Upon the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, and the First Lady, Melania Trump, within the margins of the Assembly, President Thaçi and the First Lady of Kosovo, Lumnije Thaçi, will be received tonight by the Presidential couple Trump.

During the five-day visit to New York, President Thaçi will develop numerous bilateral meetings with heads of state and leaders of various international organizations.

President Thaçi will also attend the meeting of the Heads of the six Western Balkan countries hosted by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
