President Thaçi meets Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Gallagher

Rome, 17 June, 2016 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, after meeting with the Holy Father, Pope Francis, was received by the Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See’s Secretariat of State, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.

President Thaçi and Archbishop Gallagher talked about fostering of religious, ethnic and political tolerance in Kosovo, but also in the wider region.

“Kosovo has very good relations with all countries in the region and today, with the facilitation of the European Union, we are conducting a dialogue with Serbia, a process which will certainly lead to reconciliation of our peoples and increased cooperation between the two countries in the future”, President Thaçi said.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi said that Kosovo needs recognition of its statehood by the Holy See and added that this would be a positive signal for all citizens of Kosovo, but also for the whole world.
