President Thaçi meets his Canadian counterpart, they speak about the deepening of cooperation

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, during his stay in Canada was received by his homologue, the Governor General of Canada, Julie Payette.

The President has conveyed to his Canadian counterpart the gratitude for the support that Canada has given to Kosovo for two decades now.

“We are grateful that you helped Kosovo during the war, accepting 7 thousand refugees, but also for contributing to the peace building, being part of KFOR, UNMIK and other international organizations”, said President Thaçi.

Whereas, the Canadian Head of State, General Governor, Julie Payette, has told that in 1999 when there was war in Kosovo, she has worked as an astronaut and has photographed Kosovo from space.

“From above only the globe is seen, but not the borders”, she stressed.

President Thaçi has said that Kosovo and Canada should deepen cooperation, particularly in the field of economy and security.

“Canada’s experience in building inclusive institutions is valid for Kosovo and we should take lesson from it”, he said.

President Thaçi and the Canadian counterpart have said that peace, dialogue and coexistence are the values, principles and aspirations that unite Kosovo and Canada.
