President Thaçi: KFOR does not only preserve peace, but also builds it

Prishtina, September 1, 2016 - The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, participated today at the ceremony of change of command of KFOR, from General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta to General Giovanni Fungo.

President Thaçi thanked the current Commander and all of KFOR for their work and commitment in preserving and strengthening peace in Kosovo and in the region.
 
“KFOR continues to be the organization that enjoys the greatest confidence of the citizens of Kosovo. This is not accidental. It is the result of the professional, fair, successful work that the KFOR troops have done throughout these years”, said President Thaçi.
 
He added that this job is not easy at all.
 
“KFOR protects the external borders of Kosovo, but also supports Kosovo internally. KFOR offers comprehensive humanitarian assistance to all communities. KFOR supports schools, hospitals, non-governmental organizations, media. KFOR directly supports every citizen of Kosovo, regardless of their ethnicity or region where they live. So, KFOR in Kosovo not only preserves the peace, but also builds peace”, said President Thaçi.
 
“Based on these principles, our friendship is built as well, the friendship of the citizens of Kosovo and KFOR”, he added.
 
President Thaçi highly praised the work of Major General Miglietta as well.
 
“As a military who has served earlier in Kosovo and in the region, Major General Miglietta knew how important it is to maintain good communication with the citizens. Through this communication messages of peace, reconciliation, cooperation, messages indicating that all of us have a responsibility to build a better life in the region, are given more strongly than in any other way. Therefore, for his commitment, we say sincerely thank you”, said President Thaçi.
 
For his work in Kosovo, for deepening the trust and support for all the inhabitants of Kosovo, in the end President Thaçi Major awarded General Miglietta the Military Medal of the President of Kosovo.
