President Thaçi, in New York, met with high US State Department officials

September 23, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi has met in New York with the Acting Assistant Secretary for European Affairs, Elisabeth Millard, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States, Hoyt Brian Yee.

The Head of State thanked Secretary Millard and Deputy Assistant Secretary Yee for the strong support and the special relations of the United States of America to Kosovo.

“We are determined to work together with the USA, to consolidate Kosovo’s position in the international community, strengthening our strategic reports with the Euro-Atlantic community, gaining more recognitions and memberships into international organizations”, said President Thaçi during the meeting.

He said that Kosovo is working to meet the main priorities related to economic development, the strengthening of the rule of law, meeting the criteria for EU and NATO membership.

At the meeting there was also discussed the dialogue, about the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. President Thaçi emphasized that the direct involvement of the USA in this final phase is necessary to secure a mutually acceptable and viable final agreement for both sides, which will strengthen peace and stability in the region and beyond.
