Prishtina, 20 May 2016 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi met today with the renowned British historian, polyglot, journalist and academician Sir Noel Malcolm, expert on Balkan affairs and author of numerous books on the history of Albanians, who also recently promoted, in Prishtina, the Albanian edition of his book “Agents of Empire”.
The head of state honored Sir Noel Malcolm with the presidential “Gold Medal of the League of Prizren”.
“With state responsibility as president of the country, I am pleased to award the Gold Medal of the League of Prizren to Sir Noel Malcolm for his contribution to the truth regarding the history of Kosovo and Albanians”, President Thaçi said.
President Thaçi said that Sir Noel Malcolm offers a missing truth about Albanians, but also on other nations of our region, with books on Bosnia as well during the war in this country, stressing that the miracle of the truth about Kosovo lies in the fact that he has told the truth on Kosovo even before the war broke out in our country.
“Your book on truth about Kosovo was a book that contributed to the awareness raising of the world diplomacy vis-à-vis Kosovo, but it also had a positive impact in terms of decision-making of world diplomacy on Kosovo”, President Thaçi said.
On the other hand, Sir Noel Malcolm, after having thanked President Thaçi for the “Gold Medal of the League of Prizren”, said that he is only a historian and does not deal with politics, but that he believes that for any country, for the future of a nation, historical facts and truth are of great importance.
“If I have helped a little when I wrote about the historical truth of Kosovo, I am very glad, because it is very important for the world to better understand the history of Kosovo in today’s situation and to build the future of Kosovo to the benefit of all Kosovans”, the renowned British historian Sir Noel Malcolm said.
The “Gold Medal of the League of Prizren” is given to citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, to foreigners and figures from the Albanian world who contribute to understanding between Albanians and other nations in all fields of life in the spirit of the League.
