President Thaçi congratulates the Roma community on the International Roma Day

Prishtina, April 7, 2017 – The President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, received today a delegation of the Roma community headed by MP Kujtim Paçaku, on the occasion of the 8th of April, the International Roma Day.

While congratulating the Roma community for this holiday, President Thaçi said that the institutions should do more for the welfare of this community.

“Kosovo is a country of opportunities for all communities. It is a state of all citizens and the communities are an asset of ours”, said President Thaçi.

On the other hand, the Roma representative in the Kosovo Assembly, MP Kujtim Paçaku, stressed that although the Roma are in a better position than in the past, yet as a community they feel overlooked, especially when it comes to employment.

“This is a special day for the Roma community, for our identity. The Roma community is ranked fair in Kosovo and is being integrated, but the institutions should not overlook the members of the Roma community, because over 150 Roma have graduated in various fields”, said MP Paçaku.

With the delegation of the Roma community, President Thaçi discussed also about the Roma families displaced from Kosovo.
