President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today with the Ombudsman, Hilmi Jashari, and his deputies, with whom he discussed the work and achievements of this important institution.
President Thaçi welcomed the completion of the annual report of the Omubdsman which will be submitted to the Assembly of Kosovo.
I welcome the report and the opportunity for the Assembly of Kosovo to debate on its findings” President Thaçi said.
Ombudsman Hilmi Jashari spoke about the achievements of the institution, the challenges it is faced with, but also on the finding emerging from the work of the Ombudsman.
“We have adequate representation of all communities. We have been vested with power to investigage cases of discrimination in the private sector. We will fight any form of discrimination and violations of human rights in Kosovo”, the Ombudsman said.
President Thaçi expressed his satisfaction with the reports published by the Ombudsman and called for “implementation of the recommendations of the Ombudsman by relevant institutions”.
Parties also discussed the strengthening of institutions and independent agencies.
“It is essential for the functioning of the state of Kosovo to respect the independence of institutions and independent agencies”, President Thaçi concluded.
