President Thaçi and the first lady pay tribute at the martyrs’ cemetery in Studime

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi attended today the commemorative ceremony dedicated to the martyrs fallen in the village of Studime in Vushtrri.

President Thaçi said that Kosovo has entered the 17th year of liberation, the 9th year of independence, but that it has not yet healed the deep wounds of war.

“These settlements, besides the heroic battles of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the civil resistance, always remind of the price of our freedom and independence. Seventeen years ago, here in Studime, Vushtrri, the civilian population of these areas experienced real horror”, President Thaçi said.

The head of state said that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo will always pay attention to their voice and commitment towards revealing the fate of crimes and genocide against the Albanian population during the 1998-1999 war.

“We will not stop until the fate of missing persons is revealed. We will not stop until perpetrators are brought to justice. We will also request the international community to constantly exert influence and pressure on the official Belgrade”, President Thaçi said in the village of Studime in Vushtrri.

He added that Kosovo has accomplished two big dreams, freedom and independence, but it is now getting ready for the realization of the third dream: integration in EU, NATO and the UN.

“Kosovo citizens will soon move freely in Europe. The recommendation for visa liberalization is no longer a matter of weeks and months, it is only a matter of hours”, President Thaçi said, emphasizing the long journey to ensure this right.

President Thaçi together with the first lady paid tributes at the martyrs’ cemetery in the village of Studime in Vushtrri.
