President Sejdiu urges the CEC to provide for best preparations for fair and decent elections

Today, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, received Ms. Nesrin Lushta, Chair of the Central Election Commission, and Mr. Xhemajl Peqani, Chief Executive Officer of the Central Election Commission Secretariat, with whom he discussed preparations for this year’s municipal elections.

President Sejdiu urged the Central Election Commission to do their utmost to provide for correct and fair elections that would extend the right to vote to all citizens.

President Sejdiu expressed his assurances of Republic of Kosovo institutions’ support to the CEC, during these elections in particular.

He reiterated that he will be soon meeting political party representatives, in order to reach an agreement with them about the date of municipal elections.

On their part, Lushta and Peqani updated President Sejdiu on preparations that the CEC is making for these elections and on challenges that this institution is facing.

They also thanked the President for the support that he has provided to the CEC so far.
