President Sejdiu met the President of Letonia, Mr. Valdis Zatlers

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, had a long meeting on Thursday with the President of Latvia, Valdis Zatlers. President Sejdiu updated him in detail on developments in Kosovo following the declaration of independence, especially in the field of state institution building and protection of minority community rights. President Sejdiu also thanked President Zatlers for the support that Latvia has provided to Kosovo by recognizing its independence and by contributing to the international approach to the Republic of Kosovo.

President Sejdiu asked for President Zatlers’ support in ensuring new recognitions for Kosovo, especially from countries on which Leetonia has a great influence.

The meetings also discussed potential exchange of visits by the two presidents in the near future.

Given the quick integration of Leetonia into the European Union, President Sejdiu said Leetonia’s experiences in this regard may be useful to Kosovo on its road to integration.

President Zatlers expressed his strong belief that Republic of Kosovo’s place is in the EU and reiterated that Leetonia will continue to assist Kosovo in all possible ways.

The two presidents also discussed cooperation in fields of economy, energy, health, education and other fields of common interest.
