President Pacolli receives the Swiss Ambassador to Kosovo Mr. Lukas Beglinger

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Behgjet Pacolli received today at a meeting the Swiss Ambassador to Kosovo Mr. Lukas Beglinger, who congratulated Mr. Pacolli on his new assignment and conveyed to him congratulations by the President of the Swiss Confederation Ms. Micheline Calmy-Rey.

“Ms. Micheline Calmy-Rey and Switzerland have provided an enormous contribution to building the state of Kosovo”, President Pacolli said at the meeting, appreciating a continued assistance that Switzerland had provided to the people and institutions of our country in the past and was maintaining at present.

He underlined that, besides assistance on all fronts, the presence of Swiss troops in Kosovo, who he said were providing a continuous contribution to keeping peace and security and offering their assistance to the community, was of a special importance.

President Pacolli said Kosovo still needed Swiss assistance in helping draw from Swiss experiences in the field of justice in particular, where he maintained Switzerland might offer a valuable assistance to respective institutions in our country.

He also repeated his request to have as many Swiss businesses as possible invest in Kosovo, so as to help boost economic growth in our country and reduce the high rate of unemployment directly.

On his part, Ambassador Mr. Lukas Beglinger said his country had supported the people and institutions of Kosovo continuously and would continue to do so in the future in every field and that Switzerland would not downsize the contingent of its soldiers within the KFOR and keep on providing its support within EULEX as well.

He also noted Kosovo and Switzerland had signed cooperation agreements that covered several fields and that other agreements would be signed in the future.
