The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received todaythe political director of the Department for the Western Balkans at the Foreign Ministry of Great Britain, Daniel Fear.

President Jahjaga praised the support that the UK has given and continues to give Kosovo and said that Kosovo needs the continued support of the UK in the integration processes.

She said that Kosovo needs the contractual relationship with the EU, since it would clarify Kosovo’s European path, and it would accelerate and deepen the reforms in the country.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo should have the independence, subjectivity and its full sovereignty and that the international presence and missions in Kosovo must be completed successfully, which would mark the joint success.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo said that the success in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is in the interest of the citizens of both countries and stressed that the solutions can be found if the European standards are respected.

She said that the partition of Kosovo, land swap or internal rearrangement are not a solution and will never be supported.

The political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain, Daniel Fear, congratulated President Jahjaga on her election in charge of the country and said that the UK will continue to assist and support the democratic processes in Kosovo.

He said that Kosovo has a European perspective. Mr. Fear appreciated the importance of reforms in the country and the democratic functioning of the institutions.

He said his country supports the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which should set a stable relationship between the two countries, but stressed the UK’s position against changing borders or exchange of territories.
