The President of t he Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga met today with the head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Werner Almhofer.
Mr. Almhofer, after having congratulated Madam Jahjaga for her election as President of the country, informed her about the activities which are carried out by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.
President Jahjaga said that the OSCE has played an important role in the democratization of our country, providing a valuable assistance in the building of democratic institutions.
The OSCE chief in Kosovo said that the OSCE supports the changes to the electoral legislation that are being made in our country.
The OSCE, he stressed, is in Kosovo only to help, to offer support, but the main work remains in the hands of the local institutions.
President Atifete Jahjaga appreciated the contribution that the OSCE has given in building democratic institutions in our country.
She emphasized the importance of the changes in the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the Law on General Elections, in which the The OSCE can help with its advice.
