President Jahjaga received a delegation of the World Bank

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received a delegation of the World Bank led by the Vice President for Europe and the Central Asia region, Mr. Philippe Le Houérou, in whose composition were Mr. Dimitris Tsitsiragos, vice president of the IFC (International Finance Corporation) and Mr. Michel Wormser, vice president of MIGA (Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency).

President Jahjaga said that she welcomes the increased interest of the World Bank for Kosovo which demonstrates the commitment of this important international financial institution to help the economic development of the country.

President Jahjaga said that assistance of the World Bank for Kosovo in improving the climate for investment, the creation of new jobs and strengthening the public financial management is of special importance.

She said that she welcomes the readiness of the World Bank to assist Kosovo in the field of energy and in particular in the project “New Kosovo”, which is essential for the future of energy supply. President Jahjaga said that with the support of the World Bank Kosovo would also be able to address issues relating to environmental protection and will make progress in this major project.

The Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and the Central Asia region, Mr. Philippe Le Houérou, said that the World Bank is interested to continue its projects in Kosovo and to help its economic development and the creation of new jobs that would reduce the level of unemployment and poverty.

Mr. Le Houérou said that the World Bank will assist in particular the projects dealing with energy, supporting the construction of the new Power Plant “New Kosovo” as an important project for the country.
