The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, in the framework of the visit to Slovenia, met with the President of the Assembly of Slovenia, dr. Pavel Gantar. Dr. Gantar highly appreciated the President’s visit and said it would help to deepen the cooperation between the two countries.
He said that the Assembly of Slovenia is committed to work with the Assembly and other institutions of Kosovo and expressed the willingness of the institution which he leads to help Kosovo on its European way. Dr. Gantar said that Slovenia is ready to help and to assist Kosovo in the integration processes and assessed the inclusion of Kosovo in the visa liberalization process as very important. He said this would also help to accelerate the reform process and to meet the criteria set by the EU.
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, thanking dr. Gantar for the hospitality, praised the relations between the two countries as very good. She said that the relationships with the Assembly of Slovenia must deepen and that Kosovo must take the experiences on approval and adoption of laws necessary for accession into the European Union. President Jahjaga said that the Assembly of Slovenia has a good connection between the central and local government, especially in the decentralization of power. She said that the Assembly committees of both countries should have a regular communication and joint meetings to exchange experiences.
The President of the Republic of Kosovo said that the local institutions have shown dedication and commitment to meet the criteria and obligations for visa liberalization. She said it would be appropriate that Kosovo would receive the visa liberalization roadmap this year and said that Slovenia could help Kosovo in the alignment with the EU.
