President Jahjaga met with former Czech President, Vaclav Havel

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga, met today with the former President of the Czech Republic, Mr. Vaclav Havel, in the context of the Conference “Democracy and Rule of Law” organized by the Forum 2000, directed by Mr. Havel.

Former Czech President Vaclav Havel praised the work of President Jahjaga in leading the state of Kosovo and said he has been and continues to be supportive of the integration processes of Kosovo. He showed his interest in the developments in Kosovo and its path towards European integration.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga, thanked the former Czech President Havel for his support given to Kosovo in all periods and said that the support of the Czech Republic for Kosovo has a special significance.

President Jahjaga said that for Kosovo it is necessary to establish contractual relations with the EU, which would help to accelerate domestic reforms, faster economic development and pave a clear perspective for the country. She said that Kosovo is an internationally recognized state in its territorial entirety and said that partition, exchange of territories, territorial domestic rearrangements, or Ahtisaari Plus are unacceptable.

President Jahjaga said that Ahtisaari’s Comprehensive Proposal offers optimal self-governance for the Serbs in Kosovo no matter in which municipality of Kosovo they live.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo during the day participated in the proceedings of the Conference organized by the Forum 2000, has met a number of officials of countries and participants of the Conference and gave interviews to a number of Czech media.

On the third day of the Conference, President Jahjaga will deliver a speech in the Goethe Institute on “Modern organized crime.”
