President Jahjaga had a meeting with OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities, Vollebaek

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities, Knut Vollebaek. Mr. Vollebaek showed interest in matters relating to the status and rights of the minorities in Kosovo and their representation in local institutions.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, said that the national minorities in Kosovo have their rights guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the country, which are consistent with the highest international standards. President Jahjaga said that the building of trust with the minorities in Kosovo has begun, and praised their representation in local and central institutions.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is a reality recognized by most neighboring countries and it is a factor of peace and stability in the region. She said that the establishment of contractual relations with the EU would help the process of reforms in the country, according to European standards and requirements.
