President Atifete Jahjaga received the delegation of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party of KosovoThe President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the delegation of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK), headed by the chief of the group Adem Grabovci. The delegation of the PG of the DPK congratulated the President for her election as the head of state and expressed their full support. The members of the delegation informed the President about the work being done in various fields in the Assembly of Kosovo and in particular in the processes of the electoral reform and those of the Constitution, relating to the election of the President.
The Head of the Parliamentary Group, Adem Grabovci said that these meetings should be a regular practice which will the Institution of the President should be respected, which he considered as sacred.
Meanwhile, the member of the PG of the DPK, Flora Brovina said the meeting is a sign of respect not only for the president as a woman but also because of her skills and professional preparation.
Co-chairman of the Commission for amendments to the Constitution, Arsim Bajrami informed the President about the work which is done so far and raised the need for the President to appoint a representative who will follow closely the process of the election law reforms and changes to the Constitution.
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, appreciated the request of the Parliamentary Group of the DPK to meet her and said that such meetings are in function of understanding, respecting the mandate and the constitutional and legal obligations.
Together we harmonize and coordinate policies and concrete issues.
We have overcome a political cramp, and You as a parliamentary group nominated me for president of the country. The other parliamentary groups did this also, respecting the political agreement, in order not to lead the country into early elections. Now the challenges remain, to carry forward the reforms and make the amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the Law on General Elections, said President Jahjaga.
The Assembly of Kosovo, besides these objectives, continues its daily work, in the adoption of laws that, knowing our intentions for Euro-Atlantic integration, should be harmonized with the EU legislation. From my experience, but also from your experience, you know that in the work of the Assembly the argument of the vote is not always important. You have seen that the vote of the argument is the most important. This means that if you, or any group, have a good proposal, an appropriate solution, then this is the argument with which the vote from all political sides is secured. You should work more like this because it softens the political antagonisms, and breaks the political and concrete controversies, position-opposition, but also increases the work efficiency and relaxes the relationship, paying importance to the professionalism and the practical solutions acceptable for all, said the President.
President Jahjaga, addressing the PG of the DPK said: I, President of the country, will respect the constitutionality and legality in each event and in each country. I have decided that I will not be part of any public debate. Not because I do not have an attitude, but because of the fact that must harmonize this attitude together in institutions, that when it comes to signing the laws or to sign any decision, or to make appointments and dismissals, in each case being the arguments that will push me to make such a step, and this should be in the interest of the country and the people. I thank you for this visit, we are always open to talk about each issue, to do this by respecting the Constitution and to find lasting and sustainable solutions. To be coordinated in each issue to unite forces because this is how we can move forward more quickly, said the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga.
