KFOR proclaims that KSF Initial Operational Capability (IOC) has been achieved

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, received today the Commander Kosovo Force (COMKFOR), Lieutenant General Markus J. Bentler, who handed over to him an assessment report drafted by NATO’s commanding structure and indicating that Kosovo Security Force (KSF) has achieved the Initial Operational Capability (IOC).

The decision of NATO chain of command was taken according to KFOR HQ’s recommendations following the ‘Agile Lion Exercise’ carried out by KSF members. The assessment indicates that KSF members have achieved good results during the exercise when it comes to some of their capabilities, such as those for demining, search and rescue, fire fighting and so on.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, maintained that this is a day of special importance to Kosovo.

“The decision indicating that the Kosovo Security Force has achieved the Initial Operational Capability is great news for Kosovo. This is a great achievement made with KFOR’s assistance” – President Sejdiu told Commander Bentler after he received the assessment report on Kosovo Security Force.

On this occasion as well, President Sejdiu assured COMKFOR of Kosovo people and institutions’ acknowledgment and endorsement for KFOR.
