Prishtina, February 16, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, close to the marking of the tenth anniversary of the declaration of independence, received a letter of congratulations from the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Mr. President,
On the tenth anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo, I cordially congratulate You and all the citizens of your country.
Looking back at the ten passed years, I especially enjoy seeing that Kosovo’s statehood has managed to be consolidated steadily. More than 110 recognitions, membership in international organizations and the recent Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union provide a solid foundation for other successful developments in Your country.
In the coming years, it remains crucial for Kosovo to continue with determination the path of reform, above all in the field of rule of law and economy. Furthermore, I encourage You, that together with Serbia, to make progress in seeking a sustainable solution for the normalization of bilateral relations. You can be confident that Germany will continue to remain a reliable partner of Kosovo.
Also on behalf of my fellow citizens, I wish to all the citizens in Kosovo a peaceful future in well-being and freedom, while to You prosperity.
