Dr. Jakup Krasniqi has a separate meeting with Ms. Ulrike Lunacek

Strasburg, 20 January 2011 – The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Jakup Krasniqi had today a separate meeting with the European Parliament’s Rapporteur on Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek that discussed an array of issues.

In the beginning, Lunacek spoke of last 12 December elections in Kosovo and repeated elections in several municipalities on 9 January. She said she had followed the process and expressed her positions on it publically as well as in the report on these elections.

Among others, she emphasised that these elections have damaged Kosovo’s image in the eyes of international community.

Mr. Krasniqi also repeated his statements on these elections and agreed that Kosovo needs a reform in future elections.

The meeting also discussed Mr. Dick Marty’s report. Lunacek maintained that the report was strange and something that should not have happened. She also expressed her hope that the report will not spoil Kosovo’s image in the eyes of international community. Ms. Lunacek reasserted at the meeting that the report required a real investigation. She said that if there are facts and they are established, perpetrators should face justice.
